Alpha Kappa Brothers came to show support for Chris and Jerry Kozak,
who stopped in Ann Arbor for the 2005 Journey of Hope

Pi Kappa Phi is committed to service and the Alpha Kappa chapter is no exception. Pi Kapps is proudly the only National Fraternity with its own philanthropy organization, known as PUSH America. PUSH america is devoted to helping people with disabilities of all sorts. Here at Alpha Kappa, we are proud to keep this tradition by raising thousands every semester. We also do much more than just fundraise, in 2005 we visited Ann Arbor's own Eisenhower Center where we shared our time with head trauma victims. We believe that through helping the disabled now, we will build better leaders in the future, a theory which holds true for the many Successful Pi Kapp alumni.

PUSH offers many programs to get involved with helping their cause, perhaps the most prestigious being the annual Journey of Hope. This journey is a bikeride from San Francisco to Washington DC, with daily stops helping the disabled. Just last year brothers Chris and Jerry Kozak partook on the journey. In 2006, newly initiated Ben Luster looks to partake on the trip.

If you have any questions about Alpha Kappa's philanthropy, contact the Philanthropy Chair Justin Sawkin at jsawk@umich.edu.

(1.22.2006) Pi Kapps and Relay for Life

For the first time in our history Pi Kapps have signed up as a team for the University of Michigan's Relay for Life. Relay for Life is an event in which teams of up to 20 people raise money for the American Cancer Society. After fundraising for a semester these teams spend 24 hours (10:00 AM April 8th - 10:00 AM April 9th) at Palmer Field participating in a relay around the field and many fun events throughout the day and night. For more information on the University of Michigan's Relay for Life or to see our progress go to http://www.acsevents.org/relay/mi/uofm .
